FULL PACKING LIST

The #1 question we get asked about our Baja trip is “Is It Safe?”

The answer is absolutely YES. We’ve designed our route to spend a lot of time in wide open spaces and friendly small towns, and to avoid Tijuana and Mainland Mexico. When we briefly pass through Tecate and Ensenada, we travel closely as a group. The roads are safe, all lodging is very secure and the locals are welcoming and super helpful. We will also have a Spanish speaking crew member with us at all times in case you forget the Spanish word for “taco”

I am a beginner motorcycle rider, is this trip for me?

No, this is a “Level 2” route and is best suited for Intermediate to Advanced riders. The terrain is a mix of everything from pavement, high speed desert riding, two track, single track, loose sand, rocky stretches and more.  Higher mileage riding days are to be expected.

Basically, if you aren’t comfortable riding while standing for long miles through aggressively rocky terrain, then our “Level 1” trips such as Yosemite Moto would be the ideal starting point.

I’m an experienced rider, will I be bored?

Absolutely not! We’ve designed the trip to allow experienced riders to rip at the front of the pack and not have to worry about the rest of the group keeping up. And our lead guides are trained to ride just a bit faster than you 😉

What are the requirements?

  • Valid Passport
  • FMM Tourist Visa application
  • Valid motorcycle license in your state/country
  • Good physical fitness

Where do we sleep?

We will stay in the best available secure hotels and haciendas along the Baja 1000 course – Double Occupancy (single-occupancy available). Again, all lodging is very secure.

Can I bring a C-PAP machine?

Yes, all of the hotels will have power available.

Where do I pack my stuff and keep my luggage?

Your clothing will be packed into a 30L dry bag and loaded into the chase truck.

Additional luggage that you are not bringing on the ride can be stored securely at our staging location.

What if my family needs to get in touch with me?

They can email us at info@wildernesscollective.com and your lead guide will be notified of the emergency. We have a satellite phone and satellite text communicator with us at all times.

What if I get lost?

Every guest is provided with a personal SPOT GPS tracking device which we can use to locate them or trigger a search and rescue with the local SAR services.

What is your firearm policy?

Though you may be accustomed to camping with a personal firearm we have a no firearms policy on all our trips in accordance with our insurance policy guidelines. Please leave it at home. If you are found in possession of a firearm or ammunition when crossing the border, or anytime in Mexico, you will be arrested on the spot.

What about recreational drugs?

Our company guidelines, our insurance policies, and our partners are committed to a drug-free environment on our trips whether legal or not.

i.e. Cannabis is now legal in California in plant and edible form but is still not allowed on our trips, per our insurance policy guidelines.

Weed is what gets stuck in your spokes. Dirt is the only drug you’ll need.

If you are found in possession of drugs when crossing the border, or anytime in Mexico, you will be arrested on the spot.

What if I get hurt?

  • Should any minor injuries occur on the trip, we will have a comprehensive medical kit along
  • Should any serious injury occur, we will take the support vehicle to the nearest town
  • Should any life-threatening injury occur we will activate a helicopter medical evacuation through the Satellite Messaging Device
Yes, we really do take your phones away, and you’ll thank us for it 😉

DON’T WORRY, We will have a sat phone with us at all times for inbound and outbound emergency communication with family. All Wilderness trips have been device-free since we started. This means we’ll let your phone take the weekend off in this secure environment.
This is intentional to ensure that you get to experience a unique distraction-free experience and is always a highlight of the guests. Oh and  don’t bring your camera either, we’ll be capturing all the photos so you can just enjoy the experience. #trustus
