Fleet Mechanic Job Description

General Overview:

Responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair and management of all Wilderness fleet vehicles (motorcycles, trucks, vans, trailers etc). Additionally responsible for mechanical repairs on gear and equipment as needed.

Primary Tasks (including but not limited to):

Repair and Maintenance

  • Pre-trip prep and sign-off on all vehicles
  • Post-trip inspection of fleet and updating photos to the check in/out form
  • Coordinating out-sourced repair work as needed
  • Mechanical maintenance/repair of Wilderness gear and equipment as needed
  • Fleet improvement recommendations


  • Purchasing of fleet-related parts, components and tools as needed


  • Management of fleet registration
  • Upkeep and management of Google fleet spreadsheet
  • Maintaining and executing a preventative maintenance schedule for all vehicles

Compensation: Market rate based on experience

Reports to: CEO & Operations Manager

Shop Assistant


  • Be a fast mover and self-starter
  • Must love hard work and be allergic to complaining
  • 30hr per week minimum commitment (excluding trips)
  • Be available to attend Wilderness Trips
  • Position is for Monday-Wednesday 3x – 10hr Days, with the possibility of more hours.
  • Have reliable transportation to our Los Angeles HQ

Prep/Post Trip Duties:

  • unloading chase truck and trailer after trips
  • cleaning and maintaining helmets/armor/boots
  • cleaning, organizing and maintaining camp gear
  • charging and maintaining all radios and other comm’s equipment
  • manage inventory of guest expendables and spare parts

Trip Duties:

  • Assisting staff on Wilderness expeditions as needed (every 6 weeks on average)
  • Camp setup/cleanup
  • Dish-washing and chef assistance

Compensation: Entry level pending experience
