If you’ve seen any of the WC motorcycle films you’ll know that we are big fans of everything ICON makes. We were searching for the perfect dual sport helmet that has motocross styling but street ready features and the Variant was the perfect match.
With 9 intake ports and 6 exhaust ports it allows for temperature regulation on the fly which we need when riding from near sea level to over 8000′. It features a removable and washable liner, fog free and distortion free lens (tinted or clear). One of the best features I discovered on the last WC trip was that it’s also fully radio compatible with perfect sized spots for the speakers to go which is big for us since we run the WC trips with a lot of radio communication between the staff. Constructed out of carbon fiber, dyneema, and fiberglass it far exceeds DOT regulations and will keep you safe if a tree get’s too close.
Overall it’s the best helmet I’ve every personally owned and I really like having the option to lift the visor up to get fresh air, but then close it again when riding behind someone.
