My trips to the Channel Islands all started with a friend and I wondering how long it would take to sail there on my sketchy $500 Hobie 16 Catamaran. After several trips to the islands I can tell you that it depends on the wind…unsurprisingly. I’ve gotten there in as little time as 4 hours and once it took 10 hours with 2 solid hours of paddling till we landed past midnight.
It was these epic trips with friends that led to the idea to make this an official WC trip. By adding surfboards to the gear and better food than canned beans it’s going to be even better than these first scouting trips.
